Rifugio Roda di Vael is one of our favorite mountain huts in the southern Catinaccio. Whether we're climbing, hiking, or exploring the local trail-running options, we usually end up here.
It is only about 40 minutes from Passo Carezza (Karerpass) and makes a great base for anything and everything around Roda di Vael and Roda del Diavolo. Be it the trad and sport climbs, many via ferratas, or the generous trail network.
If you're coming from Coronelle or heading through Passo delle Zigolade up to Val di Vajolet and Gardeccia, the rifugio also offers the classic alpine overnight stay. The staff are friendly, the food is genuinely good, and the ricotta cake is reason enough for us to keep coming back.
Opening season
Open only during the summer season from June through October.
