Hiking to Rifugio Bergamo (Grasleitenhütte)
- Follow the road you took to get to the parking lot through the roundabout and take the only other exit.
- Follow the road slightly downhill until you reach a bridge.
- Cross the bridge and take trail 3 going into the woods between the buildings. Malga Ciamin is the building on your right.
- Follow the trail going up a pretty steep hill. There will be a few trails going right but you just keep following trail 3.
- Shortly after a little picnic area with the view of the cliffs, trail 3 joins the forest road 13.
- Follow the bigger road for about 7 minutes. Trail 3 then splits left and goes down to the river.
- After that follow the trail following the river up the valley on a mellow incline. The trail crosses the river twice.
- After about 50 minutes in the valley take a sharp left in the trees and start climbing up the left side of the valley.
- 30 more minutes and you're at the 3/3A fork. Take the right branch, trail 3A, and cross a smaller stream shortly after.
- A few minutes later, under the cliff, trail 3B joins coming from the left. Continue on trail 3A (going right and up)
- Gain some more elevation, pass the goats (maybe) and finally pass a flagpole; from there you should see the hut nestled deeper in the valley
- 10 more minutes uphill and you're sipping coffee and schnapps at Rifugio Bergamo
- To return, take the same trail back all the way to the parking lot in Lavina Bianca

Weather & Season
- 3/4 of the trail follows the river at the bottom of the valley so it's somewhat protected from the weather
- Only the last part is steeper and a bit more exposed
- The last part of the trail and Rif Bergamo itself sits above 2,000 m so don't be surprised if you run into snow around the start and end of the season
Water along the trail to Rifugio Bergamo (Grasleitenhütte)
- There's water at the trailhead and in both the huts
- There's a spring at 2km and 3km and an alpine creek at 5.6km
Other notes
- Early start recommended on weekends and in the summer in general; parking fills quickly.
- The cell service is poor to none, especially higher up in the valley
- Bring small cash for huts; card terminals are unreliable.
